Research fellows Ådne Ausland and Mathilde Elsa Christensen won the regional final of the Researcher Grand Prix.

On Wednesday, the University Board determined the date for next year’s rector election. On Monday 1 March, the digital polling stations will open, and both staff and students will vote for who will lead the university for the next four years, starting in August.

The University Board also approved a new draft development agreement for the next four years.

The University of Agder now has self-service video podcast studios on both campuses. Both staff and students can book the studio, make recordings and publish them themselves.

The University will make arrangements for students and staff to watch King Harald’s funeral on 9 September and will suspend activities from 12:00 to 15:00. The funeral will be broadcast in UiA’s auditoriums.

Rector Sunniva Whittaker today extends UiA’s condolences to the Royal Family following the news of the passing of His Majesty King Harald.

The Researcher Grand Prix show will take place at BARE Student House on Wednesday 16 September 2026. Two winners will go through to the national final.

Updated 28 August: The Pride parade and Rainbow Square event in Kristiansand on 29 August have been cancelled due to the passing of His Majesty the King. Skeive Sørlandsdager instead invites people to gather at Kilden Concert Hall from 15:00.

The need for support in mathematics amongst new students has made the student mentor scheme at UiA an important part of the start of the academic year. This week, 56 new student mentors are gathering for training.

Just before the summer, Lee Michael Shults officially took up his post as the new director. Together with his deputy, Adriana Ruiz, he aims to forge closer links between the field of gender equality and research, both regionally and nationally.
