“The Government has asked us to consider how we can ensure that students and staff have the opportunity to watch the television broadcasts of the funeral. It is therefore natural that we should suspend our activities during those hours,” says University Director Seunn Smith-Tønnessen.

It has been decided that, on the day of the funeral, between 12-15:00:

  • where possible, and where operational requirements permit, arrangements should be made to enable staff and students to watch the television coverage of the funeral;
  • no teaching, events or other activities should take place that would prevent staff and students from watching the coverage;
  • no noisy or otherwise disruptive work should be carried out on the University’s campuses.

Funeral coverage

The funeral will be broadcast in the following lecture halls during this period:

Campus Grimstad

  • C2 036
  • The Amphitheatre

Campus Kristiansand

  • All lecture halls in B1 (with additional lecture halls available if required)
  • The lecture halls in Building 46

“Students and staff are free to choose whether they wish to watch the funeral or continue with their work,” says Smith-Tønnessen.

Everyone is encouraged to show particular consideration on this day and to respect the national commemoration by observing one minute of silence from 13:00.
