Project support and funding
All research activity funded externally must be organised as projects with their own agreements, budgets, and accounts.
On this page, you will find information on how to apply for funding for your project, and how UiA can assist you in the process.

One-pager
When writing an application, it can be useful to develop a 'one-pager' to help refine the project early on. The one-pager can also be handy when approaching potential, preferably non-academic, partners for a project.
Suggested structure for the one-pager:
- Title
- Purpose, - What is the research question?
- Background, - Why is this important?
- What challenge needs to be addressed?
- Is this a European challenge, or can it be resolved at the national level? (Applies only to EU projects)
- Does the solution already exist?
- Why do this now? (What happens if it is not done now?)
- Why are the people behind the application the best to carry out this work?
- Impact/Outcome - Who will use the results?
- Who will do the work? (Consortium)
- Costs/Duration
Project Canvas
Project Canvas is a tool developed by the Research Council to assist businesses and others in progressing from a project idea to an application. The tool can serve as an aid to further develop a research idea, gain an overview and identify strengths and weaknesses, discover new opportunities, and refine the project idea. Project Canvas is useful both for internal discussions and for involving others who will participate in the project.

Impact and communication
Effective communication ensures that the results of research become known and impactful. Both the Research Council and the EU place significant emphasis on impact in their applications. Here are two attachments that can give you an idea of how to integrate impact into the project:
UiA Nyskaping offers individual impact guidance for your project.
Contact UiA Nyskaping for impact guidance
The Division of Communication can assist you with everything from identifying target audiences and selecting communication channels to creating a website for the project.
Complete the application form and submit the application
In the application form and/or call for proposals, you will often be asked to include standard information or standard documents. Remember to include all the information and attachments required in the call. Otherwise, you risk your application being rejected.
PIC number and Organisation ID (OID)
To participate in a Horizon Europe application, it must be registered under UiA's PIC number. The code to use is 998822969.
In Erasmus+, they have transitioned to using Organisation ID (OID), and for UiA, this is E10206007.
Description of UiA as an institution
In many applications, you are required to describe the involved institutions, including UiA. This is often done to confirm that the institution possesses the necessary experience, infrastructure, and expertise required to successfully carry out projects. The Research and Innovation Office has prepared standard texts that can be used for this purpose. It is important to remember that this text is intended only as inspiration and a starting point, and therefore needs to be tailored to each individual application.
Short and long description of UiA as a research organisation
Name and address
In English:
Type of Participant: RTD
Legal name: University of Agder
Correct acronym: UiA
Legal address: Universitetsveien 25, 4604 Kristiansand NO
Erasmus+ applications
Please note that applications, the 'Declaration of Honour,' and 'Mandates' must be signed by the Rector (and not the LEAR). The International Office assists with obtaining the signature, so contact int-kontor@uia.no well in advance of when you need it.
The PIC number has been replaced by the Organisation ID (OID), and UiA's OID is E10206007.
Letter of Intent (LoI)
Typically, there is a requirement to include letters of intent with the application. Check the call for proposals to see if there are specific requirements for the content of the letters. Examples of letters of intent can be found here (login required):
Self-evaluation before submission
Once the application is ready, it should be evaluated both academically and administratively.
Academic evaluation can be done by other colleagues. Research advisors in the faculties can, if necessary, help hire consultants for this. The Research and Innovation Office can also review the application to see if it addresses the call for proposals.
The Research and Innovation Office is also available to help check the application for formal errors. If there are formal errors in submitted applications, they will be rejected.
Archiving
All submitted applications must be archived in Public 360 according to the established template.
