From day 1: Reporting a sickness absence

Important in case of sickness:

When you are absent from work either due to your own or your child’s or childminder’s sickness, you must on the same day notify your line manager of your absence.

As soon as possible you must also register self-certified absence due to illness in DFØ or submit a medical certificate.

At the same time, provide an estimate of how long you will be absent.

This notification must be made by telephone.

Consider if you should notify others affected by your absence, for instance close co-workers or people whom you are scheduled to meet.

Consider if the work place has made any accommodations that may be relevant at this point.

There must be a continuous dialogue between employee and manager from day 1.
