Hilde T. Mikkelsen er universitetslektor og doktorgradsstipendiat ved Institutt for helse- og sykepleievitenskap. Hun forsker på livskvalitet og smerte hos ungdom og deres foreldre, og er tilknyttet forskningsprosjektet Start Ung

Hilde er utdannet sykepleier fra 2008. Hennes kliniske arbeidserfaring er hovedsakelig fra palliativ kreftomsorg. Hun har en mastergrad i helsevitenskap fra Universitetet i Agder (2013) med hovedtema "Palliative kreftpasienters erfaringer med deltakelse i livsstilsinterversjon under pågående kreftbehandling".  

Hilde ble ansatt som universitetslektor ved Fakultet for helse- og idrettsvitenskap i 2015 og underviser på bachelor i sykepleie, på videreutdanningen i lindrende omsorg hvor hun er fagansvarlig koordinator og på masterutdanningen i helsesykepleie
