A. Obtain an overview
- Review the course description and study plan. These serve as the basis for planning teaching and assessment in the course.
- Go through previous course evaluations. If you do not have access, contact the programme leader. Follow up on agreed changes.
- It may be helpful to review the previous course room in UiA's learning platform, Canvas. No access? The Canvas team can assist with access management.
B. Plan teaching
- Plan and allocate academic and administrative responsibilities with other lecturers involved in the course, if applicable.
- Use the Canvas learning platform.
- Prepare a course compendium.
- Register the curriculum and any recommended reading materials.
- Be mindful of copyright (link in Norwegian) when using films, texts, images, and audio in lectures.
- Make arrangements for students with disabilities. If you have students with an approved accommodation plan, you will be contacted by a student advisor or the facilitation office.
C. Secure resources
- Submit the timetable and room requirements, as well as any needs for AV equipment.
- Familiarise yourself with the assigned teaching room, and feel free to request start-up assistance if you need an introduction to the AV equipment.
- If you or your students need software licences beyond those available in AppsAnywhere, you must send a request to the person responsible for IT procurement in your department and report any need for a security assessment.
D. Prepare for student evaluation of the course
- Familiarise yourself with the possible formats for student evaluations of the course. The format is selected in collaboration with the student representative for the course.
E. For those responsible for courses in Teacher Training or coordinators in Early Childhood Teacher Education
- In this context, the programme leader has a role equivalent to that of a study programme leader. Course coordinators in teacher training programmes or coordinators in early childhood teacher education report to their programme leader. Additionally, there are specific subject coordinators at the faculties.
- When planning teaching sessions, contact the programme leader for an overview of shared sessions and practical placements to avoid scheduling conflicts. Teaching should not be scheduled during practical placement periods. Additionally, teaching should not be scheduled on Wednesday afternoons beyond the times specified by the Teacher Education Unit for the relevant programme.
