Working hours
As academic staff, you hold a particularly independent position and are therefore exempt from the working hours provisions in the Working Environment Act.
The employer remains responsible for ensuring reasonable working hours. The work schedule is therefore set at 1,687.5 hours per year, which accounts for standard holidays, public holidays, and days off in the most favourable year for the employee.
The work schedule is adjusted to account for senior days and may also be adjusted in cases of sickness, leave, and holiday.

Work plan
An individual written work plan must be prepared for you as an academic employee. Your department head holds the overall responsibility for ensuring that work plans are developed. Typically, the work plan is created following a work plan discussion between you, as the employee, and your manager/department head.
The plan should outline the tasks you are expected to perform during the calendar year in the following areas:
- Teaching
- Research and Development (R&D)
- Administration
- Other (if applicable)
You can access your personal work plan by logging into Workplan (Feide login).
Research and Development (R&D)
The term R&D encompasses research, professional and artistic development work, innovation, and dissemination related to these activities. These categories define the scope of tasks that can be included in the R&D time and the R&D section of an individual’s work plan.
This activity must be documented through registration in Cristin. References to research time include activities related to all the aforementioned tasks.

Productivity Agreement
If you exceed expectations in teaching, supervision, and grading within your position, you may agree to transfer a productivity benefit to your KFU account, pursuant to the Productivity Agreement (pdf) (in Norwegian).
