The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) expects the call for applications to be released at the end of November, and we will then receive an overview of the budget for the various regions and any additional information. You can read more about the initiative on the HK-dir website (in Norwegian).

Regarding the application process for 2025:

  • 5 December: Faculty contact submits interest to sissel.gjennestad@uia.no. An email has been sent to the faculty contacts.
  • Before 1 January: You will receive confirmation on whether you can continue with the application process and whether you need to co-write/share application text.
  • In January, internal application webinar if needed.
  • 1 February: First draft of qualitative text and number of mobilities.
  • 1-7 February: Feedback on text and applications from the International Office to applicants.
  • 9 February: Final text is sent to the International Office, which consolidates, reviews the total budget, and submits the application in the portal.

More detailed information about the points:

Faculty is asked to report their interest by 5 December. You need to specify the region, country, and partner. An overview of the regions and countries eligible for application can be found on the EU’s website. An evaluation will be made before Christmas once we have gathered the information. Based on experience, there is a lot of interest in the regions of Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, where there is also a limited national budget, which means we have strict limits and will need both support from the department and well-written text if there is strong interest. Those who have submitted will receive confirmation on whether they can continue with the application process and whether they need to co-write/share text fields with other applicants.

An administrative contact from the faculty must be appointed, and they must have time to follow up on the application process and the management of the project if it is awarded. The administrative contact will be added to a Teams room for coordination of the applications.

In mid-January, we will check that everyone is progressing with the application and that there are no changes. An internal application webinar will be held if applicants request it and inform sissel.gjennestad@uia.no.

1 February: Internal deadline for the first draft (including number of mobilities and qualitative text). This is to ensure that everyone is on the right track according to the call and the total budget.

After the 1 February deadline, there will be a round of feedback/text review from the International Office before applications are finalised and sent back to the International Office by 9 February at the latest. The internal deadline is always earlier than the national one, as UiA must submit everything in one go, and there are often technical challenges in the application portal and other issues that need to be clarified when everything is entered into the portal.

NB: If there are multiple applicants in the same region, they will need to co-write parts of the content, as there is very little space in these applications. A weakly supported application or poorly written text may be removed from the joint application if it is deemed that it could harm the rest of the applicants in the same region. If there is high interest in the same region with a limited budget, the faculty may also be asked to rank internally and send a prioritisation to the International Office.
