Rules of use

  • As a general rule, only university employees with a valid driver's license may drive the shared university vehicles. The person booking the vehicle must also be the driver.  In special cases, students may be permitted to drive the car. Such exceptions must be agreed upon between the vehicle's contact person and the student involved.
  • The vehicle may only be used for professional purposes.  Only individuals travelling on university business or at the state's request or expense may be passengers in the vehicle.
  • When you borrow one of the university vehicles, you are not entitled to a refund for kilometres or toll charges.
  • Fines for traffic violations (such as speeding or parking tickets) must be paid by the driver. The University will not reimburse these.
  • Please refer to the user manual for UiA's new electric cars (pdf).

In case of mishap or breakdown

  • Any faults or defects on the car should be reported to UiA Help
  • The person who signed out the key must also submit a damage claim to UiA Help for any damage sustained to the car while borrowing it.
  • A damage claim form can be found inside each car.
  • In the event of an accident involving another party, a damage claim must be completed in the usual manner. When completing the form, state that any inquiries from the counterparty's insurance company should be directed to the University of Agder.
  • No admission of liability should be made, nor should any settlement negotiations take place on the spot.
