Phase 2: Launch

Everyone should get information about ARK. To ensure success, it's vital that all managers have a realistic perception of the time and resources needed to carry out the process.

The Divison of Human Resources will post general information about the launch of the ARK process on the intranet, but it's also important for managers to clearly and accurately inform all staff about

  • what the process aims to achieve
  • how feedback meetings and the development of initiatives will be organised

Use communication channels like regular meetings, Teams and perhaps email. There are materials prepared that managers can use as a starting point for informing staff.

Here are examples of the form we all need to complete:

How can you best reach the most staff and ensure they make the most of ARK opportunities?

  • Communicate what is happening, how the process works, and why the University of Oslo is conducting ARK.
  • Make it clear, in an open and honest way, that high participation is important to you as a manager. Show that you care about the work environment and have expectations for what you can achieve together.
  • Connect work environment efforts to your daily work. Remember that the work environment is about how you plan, organise and execute tasks.
  • High participation in the survey provides a more accurate picture of the current situation and a good basis for future efforts.
  • Offer concrete examples of improvements made following past surveys, or connect it to previous or ongoing initiatives related to the work environment. Remind everyone that managers and staff share responsibility for maintaining a healthy work environment.
  • Listen to what people have to say and focus on asking questions rather than presenting arguments.
