External work

UiA welcomes staff who are involved in activities outside UiA, whether through various positions of responsibility, shareholdings or other paid or unpaid work. At the same time, it is a legal requirement and important for us to be aware of your external commitments, so that we can avoid actual or potential conflicts of interest.

  • Declare your external work in DFØ.
  • Complete one form for each external job position.
  • Your external employment will then be either approved or rejected (an automatic notification is sent to your manager when you save the form).
  • If the external employment is approved, you will find it under 'My external work' in DFØ. You will also receive an approval email.
  • If the external employment is rejected, your manager will provide written feedback explaining the decision.

Overview and case processing for managers

At the faculty level

Submitted external work will go to the head of department, who will receive a notification in their inbox and is responsible for processing them. The faculty director will also receive this notification.

For central administrative services

Submitted external work will go directly to the division director, who will receive a notification in their inbox and is responsible for processing them.

Managers who approve external work can view these again in ‘Insight for HR and Payroll’ in DFØ. The external work and the employee’s description are displayed here, but not the manager’s comments. To view the manager’s comments, you must go to ‘Specialist User: Payroll/Accounting’ in DFØ. See the user guide for ‘Specialist User: Payroll/Accounting’ here (in Norwegian).
