Application deadlines

10 February for the autumn semester or full year

10 September for the spring semester

How to apply for exchange

1. Apply for exchange through Søknadsweb

Complete the online application form through Søknadsweb before these application deadlines:

  • 10 February for autumn departures and for full-year exchanges
  • 10 September for spring departures

How to apply:

  • Log in to Søknadsweb. Choose "Utveksling utreisende".
  • UiA's exchange agreements are organised in alphabetical order. You can only choose agreements that are relevant to your study programme
  • You can choose up to three institutions, in order of priority
  • Many institutions are listed several times. Please ensure you choose the correct alternative for your faculty. The faculties are abbreviated as follows:
    • Teaching Education Unit: "LÆRER"
    • Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences: "HELIDFAK"
    • Faculty of Humanities and Education: "HUMPEDFAK"
    • Faculty of Fine Arts: "KUNSTFAK"
    • Faculty of Social Sciences: "FAKSAMF"
    • Faculty of Engineering and Science: "TEKREALFAK"
    • School of Business and Law: "HANDELSH"

If you cannot find the institution you want to apply to in Søknadsweb, please contact the International Office.

2. Wait for a response to your application

You can expect to hear back about your application within approximately 3 weeks after the deadline. We will notify you by e-mail and SMS once a decision has been made. Please respond to the offer through Søknadsweb.

You will receive a separate e-mail with details on the next steps in the application process.

All e-mails will be sent to your student mail account.

3. Apply for admission to the institution abroad

Even though you have received an offer from UiA and been assigned a place to an exchange university abroad, you must still apply for admission to the exchange institution. It is the exchange institution abroad that grants final admission.

Application procedures and deadlines vary from place to place. You will receive more information on what you need to do from your contact person at the International Office at UiA and the contact person at the exchange university.

All information will be sent to your student mail account.

4. Pre-approval of courses

A pre-approval confirms that your exchange can count towards your degree at UiA. At some universities you apply for courses in the general application for admission. At other universities you apply for courses in a separate process. In some instances, the final course selection takes place during the orientation after your arrival.

You will need to get approval for the course selection at the exchange university from the contact person for exchange in your study programme at UiA.

Any changes made during the exchange must also be approved by the same contact person.

Please use this form for pre-approval of courses
