Which challenges does diversity work in Norwegian academia address, and which does it obscure? In a changing landscape of increasing conflict, mistrust, and polarization in society, strengthening our own critical competence and capacity for reflection in diversity work is more crucial than ever.
At the 2027 Kif Committee Network Conference, we invite the academic community to “mind the gaps” in our knowledge on diversity and equality work. We are particularly interested in exploring how different forms of inequality and exclusion intersect. This is essential for learning to recognize and respond to experiences that challenge our individual assumptions, as well as the institutional norms that shape them.
Bringing together a broad range of disciplinary perspectives, we will explore ongoing initiatives, research, and leadership practices that address the challenges and opportunities arising from different social positions and lived experiences that are often overlooked in Norwegian academia.
Would you like to receive information when the program is ready?
The conference is open to everyone and is particularly relevant for those working professionally or practically with gender equality and diversity at universities, university colleges, and research institutes.
In addition to an engaging professional program, you are also invited to a conference dinner on the top floor of Kunstsiloen — the world’s most beautiful museum — which includes a museum ticket.
Welcome to Kristiansand, the capital of Sørlandet!

About the Network Conference
The Network Conference is part of the work of the Network for Gender Equality Practitioners in the Research Sector, which was established by the Committee for Gender Balance and Diversity in Research and Higher Education (the KIF Committee) in 2006.
The conference is held every year and addresses various topics related to equality and diversity in research.
These annual equality conferences are open to everyone and are particularly relevant for leaders, equality advisers, and others who work with equality and diversity at universities, colleges, and research institutes in the research sector.
The task of organizing the conferences rotates between institutions.
