The first meeting of the year of the University Board was opened with a visit from the Sørlandet Science Centre. They are building an entirely new science centre on Campus Kristiansand, together with UiA.
The centre will open on 16 June 2026.

How more UiA research will be put into use
It is important for the university that the knowledge created here reaches society. This may be in the form of commercial ideas, or in order to make a different kind of impact on society.
The latter is also referred to as “social innovation”. One example was when the university developed its own world in the game universe Minecraft. This is now used in teaching about Sami culture in schools across the country. UiA has also helped to develop a simpler digital application process for social welfare, created digital resources on healthy nutrition in children’s first years of life, and developed a new career tool for people with disabilities.
To ensure that more knowledge from UiA benefits society, the University Board has now adopted new principles for how this work should be carried out.
These principles have been out for consultation with the university’s faculties and departments, and the content was adopted as proposed.
Adopted a three-year investment plan
UiA can set aside funds to make investments in the university’s development. The Board therefore adopts an annual plan for these investments.
The plan applies to the period 2026–2028 and includes, among other things:
- Temporary premises for the psychology academic community
- Furniture and equipment for the Kristiansand Science Centre at UiA
- A learning arena “by students for students” at Campus Grimstad
- Conversion of parking spaces back into wildflower meadows at Campus Kristiansand
The plan includes investments totalling NOK 256 million. It was adopted as proposed.
