Ansvarsområder
I have a multidisciplinary background in computer science, data science, healthcare, and public health research. Before joining the University of Agder, I completed an MSc in Applied Data Science at the University of Sunderland, where I developed experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, natural language processing, time-series analysis, and data visualisation.
Alongside my studies, I worked as a Practice Administrator at South Grange Medical Centre within the NHS. In this role, I worked with the SystmOne clinical information system, managing patient records and appointments and collaborating with healthcare professionals to support the day-to-day operation of the practice. This experience provided me with practical insight into healthcare systems, routinely collected health data, and the importance of accurate data management in clinical settings.
I also worked as a Student Researcher at the University of Sunderland, contributing to research involving NHS renal healthcare data. My work included longitudinal and time-series data analysis as well as analysis of health related online discussions, further developing my experience in applying data science methods to real world health research.
At the University of Agder, I am a PhD Research Fellow in Data Science for Public Health Nutrition. My PhD focuses on the secondary use of existing data sources to generate evidence for public health nutrition. I develop computational approaches for collecting, processing, and analysing information from different data sources, with a particular focus on Norwegian municipal documents and food provision in schools and other public settings. My work involves methods from data science, natural language processing, information retrieval, and large language models (LLMs).
Forskning
My research interests lie at the intersection of data science, artificial intelligence, public health, and nutrition. I am particularly interested in how existing and routinely generated data can be transformed into useful evidence for understanding public health nutrition policies and interventions.
As part of my PhD, I investigate how computational methods, including natural language processing, information retrieval, and large language models, can be used to systematically identify and extract information from large collections of unstructured documents. A current focus is developing methods to identify and map information about food provision across Norwegian municipalities, particularly in schools and other public settings.
More broadly, I am interested in health data science, machine learning, automated information extraction, and the responsible application of artificial intelligence in public health research.
