Foraging and Wild Harvesting

Norwegian nature offers an exciting variety of edible wild plants, berries and mushrooms.

The right to roam (allemannsretten) in Norway allows you to roam and forage in uncultivated land, but not on cultivated land without the landowner’s permission.

To ensure safe and sustainable foraging, be completely sure of what you pick and always leave some behind so the population can recover. Safe plants to start with include stinging nettle, ground elder and dandelion.
