Canvas is the university’s digital learning platform, and is therefore an important part of our students’ daily life. If you are newly hired or have not used Canvas for a while, it can feel difficult and time-consuming to get started with creating user-friendly Canvas rooms. This course is therefore designed to help you navigate and use the most important functions and tools in Canvas.
During this session, we will explore the basic functions of Canvas, including how to manage and publish subjects, add and organize content, and some ways you can communicate with students. We will also cover important tools such as modules, assignments, and assessments.
Our goal is to give you a solid basic understanding of how Canvas works, so that you can use the platform effectively in your teaching. After completing the introductory course, you are encouraged to take part in our “Best practice” course, as it goes deeper into several functions and tools, including reflection on how the functionalities can best be applied.
After completing the course, the participant should be able to:
- Understand and use basic functions and tools in Canvas
- Create, structure, and manage course content
- Have basic knowledge of best practices related to the subject’s homepage and use of modules
- Have knowledge of where to find more information, competence development and resource persons related to digital teaching
