The staff sports club UiA BIL has several kayaks available for loan. This is a free offer originally intended only for members of the sports club, but is now also available to all staff at UiA. It’s first come, first served, so you’ll need to act quickly to borrow one or two kayaks, and they can be borrowed for one week at a time. The kayaks are equipped with paddles, life jackets and covers to prevent water from getting inside. We have kayaks in both Grimstad and Kristiansand. You’ll need to pick up the kayaks using a trailer or roof racks on your car.
How to loan and book a kayak
In Grimstad, you can reserve a kayak by creating a reservation in Outlook as described below. In Kristiansand, you can contact the staff sports club UiA BIL. All loans are within regular working hours from 08:00 to 15:30, and the borrowed kayak must be returned within this time frame. When returning the equipment, please ensure that everything is in the same condition as when you received it.

- Open your calendar and create an "appointment."
- Add the location "offline global addresses."
- Search for kayak ("kajakk xx" or "kajakk xx").
- When reserving the kayak, you must enter your name and mobile number.
- You can only borrow one kayak at a time.
- Remember to read the lending rules and the booking confirmation.

About the kayaks (applies to kayaks in Grimstad)
The kayak is of the type Wilderness Cape Horn 150. With a length of 15 feet, the kayak has excellent balance and performs steadily in the water. The performance-inspired stern and bow result in a longer waterline for excellent speed and glide, while the shallow V-hull with rounded chines makes it easy to paddle in different types of water.
Adjustable, padded thigh braces and hip pads, along with a Phase 3® AirPro XP seat system and backband, make the kayak comfortable for long paddling trips. The hull is made of high-density polyethylene for fantastic durability and easy maintenance.
A foot-pedal-controlled rudder system, along with the ability to adjust the cockpit, makes the kayak easy to tailor to the individual user and easy to steer.
The easily accessible front hatch and a smaller stern hatch provide ample storage space for dry bags and extra clothes/equipment. The stern hatch, bow hatch, and small midship hatch all have bulkheads to keep luggage/equipment dry and secure.
The dome-shaped hatch covers provide a strong waterproof seal and feature small handles for easy removal.
