(The Basic Collective Agreement. Section 2.5.5 section 3)
Within 12 months of the appointment, or when transitioning from temporary to permanent employment, the employer shall review the employee’s salary placement within the specified pay range for the position.
Union representatives shall receive annual updates of the use made of this provision.
The employer may determine a new salary placement in the following situations:
a) When the duties and responsibilities are more complex and/or demanding than indicated in the job description.
b) When the employee’s skills and qualifications are greater than what was revealed during the hiring process, resulting in a higher degree of autonomy, responsibility and quality in their work.
c) In cases of unintentional pay disparities.
The salary placement must fall within the framework stated in the job advertisement.
When hiring, the starting point is to ensure the appropriate salary placement. To facilitate this, close collaboration between the faculty/unit and the HR case officer is recommended.
