Safety representatives
The role of the safety representative is to safeguard employees' interests in matters concerning the working environment.
The safety representatives shall:
- take care of employees’ interests in issues that are related to the physical and psychosocial work environment.
- make sure The Working Environment Act is followed (manager is responsible for HSE).
- notify the HSE responsible of straining and hazardous work environment.
- carry out safety rounds and observe that work is done in a way that ensures the safety, health and well-being of the employees in accordance with the Working Environment Act and relevant regulations.
Chief safety representative:
The chief safety representative must coordinate the safety representatives’ activities. They must
- represent the safety representatives when meeting the UiA administration.
- promote any relevant matters for the working environment committee on behalf of the safety representatives.
- assist safety representatives with their safety work.
- summon the safety representatives for regular safety representatives meeting.
For the moment, the chief safety representative uses 50 % of his work hours for safety tasks. The deputy for the chief safety representative is appointed from the group of safety representatives and uses 20 % of her work hours.
