The Internal Control Regulations apply to all enterprises covered by laws that address various health, environmental, or safety concerns.
RegulationsÂ
Internal control means that the enterprise must:
- Ensure that the health, environment, and safety legislation applicable to the enterprise is available to everyone. This also involves having an overview of the requirements that are particularly important for the enterprise.
- Ensure that employees have sufficient knowledge and skills in systematic HSE work, including information about changes.
- Ensure employee participation so that the enterprise can utilize the knowledge and experiences of everyone in the organization.
- Set goals for health, environment, and safety. The goals must be documented in writing.
- Have an overview of how the enterprise is organized and how responsibility, tasks, and authority for the work with health, environment, and safety are distributed. This must be documented in writing.
- Identify hazards and issues in the workplace. Based on the analysis, assess risk and develop plans and measures to reduce the risk. The analysis and plans must be documented in writing.
- Implement routines to detect, correct, and prevent violations of the requirements established in or pursuant to health, environment, and safety legislation. The routines must be documented in writing.
- Conduct systematic monitoring and review of internal control to ensure it functions as intended. The results of the review should be documented in writing."
