Erasmus+

As an Erasmus student, you can apply for an Erasmus grant in addition to loans and grants from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen). Please note that the grant does not automatically come with an Erasmus placement, but we do our best to ensure that as many students as possible receive a grant.

The grant period is calculated from arrival day to the last day of exams at the foreign institution.

The first 70% of the grant is usually paid out in October/March, while the remaining 30% is paid out after the completion of the exchange period.

What should you remember to do before an Erasmus+ exchange?

All students going on an Erasmus exchange must complete the following forms:

BEFORE the exchange:

  1. Grant Agreement: You need to fill in the information on page 1 and sign on page 4. The International Office will complete the rest, sign it, and send you a copy.
  2. Online Learning Agreement (OLA): This is the pre-approval of your academic program as an exchange student. Here's how to create and complete your OLA.
  3. Lønn- og godtgjørelse: Please fill in your contact information at the top and sign where it says "Regningsutstederens underskrift." Remember to fill in all fields marked with an X. (This document is for tax purposes - the Erasmus+ grant is excempt from tax).

The deadline to submit the Grant Agreement and 'Lønn- og godtgjørelse' forms to erasmuspluss@uia.no is June 30th / November 30th.

UPON ARRIVAL at the foreign institution:

Confirmation of Erasmus+: This form must be completed and signed by the International Office at the host university (not UiA or yourself) upon arrival. Please send the form to erasmuspluss@uia.no as soon as it is signed.

Once this is done, you will receive 70% of your grant.

AFTER the exchange:

  1. Final report: A link to the final report will be sent to your student email after the exchange is completed.
  2. Confirmed end date: Please use the Confirmation of Erasmus+ form again. Send the form to erasmuspluss@uia.no as soon as it is signed.

Once this is done, you will receive the remaining 30% of your grant.

Language test: We offer a free online language test (Online Language Support) to help you improve your language skills. It is not required, but we recommend it. Your results will not affect your exchange.

Grants and rates

The scholarship rates will vary from year to year, and the size of the scholarship also depends on whether you are traveling to a high-cost country or a low-cost country. The rates are calculated from date to date, meaning that if you are on exchange for 3 months and 10 days, those are the days you will receive a scholarship for.

Mobility for regular studies (2 to 12 months)

Rates for 2025:

  • € 530 per month for Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
  • € 470 per month for other European countries in Erasmus+.

Internship Mobility

Rates for 2025:

  • € 680 per month for Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Sweden.
  • € 620 per month for other European countries in Erasmus+.

Short-term mobility (5 to 30 days):

In some cases, you can receive a scholarship for mobility of less than 2 months. This applies if you are going on exchange within a subject area that falls under the definition of 'blended mobility'. This means that you take a subject where parts of the course are taught digitally, and you also go on a physical exchange. Physical short-term mobility (studies and internships) must be a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 60.

Contact erasmuspluss@uia.no if you have any questions about short-term mobility.
