Table of contents

The course is connected to the following study programs

Teaching language

French and Norwegian, English if needed

Recommended previous knowledge

It is recommended to have a level equivalent to level 2 from upper secondary school (formerly B-language or C-language), alternative B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It will be an advantage to have first taken FR-131 French Language 1. We do not recommend following the programme without any prior knowledge, as this will be very labour-intensive, but language courses and previous stays in France can compensate for a lack of formal background in French.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the students should have received a solid introduction to most of the linguistic structures that are necessary to express themselves correctly in French. They should also be able to use grammatical terminology and explain the choices they make.

Contents

The course elaborates on the theoretical foundation that the students have acquired in French Language 1. In the teaching, emphasis is placed on morphological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic aspects of word, phrase and sentence structure. Different grammar exercises will be used to learn how to apply the grammar in practice.

Teaching and learning methods

The written take-home assignment will be no longer required for students in the Teacher Education Programme and will be replaced by the following examination requirements: passed practical training.
