Recommended previous knowledge
It is recommended to have a level equivalent to level 2 from upper secondary school (formerly B-language or C-language), alternatively B1-level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Language courses and previous stays in France will also be an advantage. We do not recommend following the programme without any prior knowledge, as this will be very labour-intensive.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the students will have acquired knowledge about today's France and the French-speaking world in general. They should be able to understand the main content of written and oral texts in French and be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
Contents
The course introduces French social studies and francophony (the French-speaking world) and lays the practical foundation for the students' communicative competence. Through various activities, the teaching provides practice in both oral and written French.

Lectures and seminars. Student-active working methods and use of digital resources. For students in teacher education, years 8-13, practical training is included. The students' active participation is necessary to develop good language skills, therefore participation in the course is compulsory.
