It primarily means that as a new student, you will be welcomed, and that your time at university will both engage and challenge you.
Semester start at UiA is shaped by students, and they become your buddies as you begin the academic year. You will receive both academic and social support as you transition to becoming an independent student.
Student participation in decision-making
At the students' university, students influence the everyday experience and development of the institution.

Students participate in boards and management meetings. They evaluate the programmes, and elected representatives speak on behalf of students in the student democracy.

UiA's slogan is 'Creating knowledge together'.
A good university and good learning are created when students and staff collaborate closely to tackle difficult questions– often together with the world of work. Students frequently contribute as mentors, helping other students.
You will be taught by committed lecturers who carry out research in their fields. If you're motivated, there are opportunities to join many of our lecturers' projects in research, innovation or art development. Not as a spectator, but as an active participant.

- Be curious and committed, daring to ask both smart and stupid questions
- Contribute to classes, student democracy and the social activities you engage in
- Take responsibility for yourself and your fellow students, and seize the opportunities that come your way
Perhaps you feel ready to take on this responsibility from day one. If not, we provide the space for you to develop. You will grow, no matter where you start.

In the 2024 national student survey, UiA's campuses were voted the best in Norway. You'll want to spend a lot of time here!
It's a good place to learn, but also to simply hang out with your new student friends. The student welfare organization in Agder with its housing, health services and cafeterias ranks among the best in Norway. We have a vibrant student community in a welcoming region that is glad to have you.

There will be a time after your period of study, and we're here to prepare you for it. The years you invest here will enhance your motivation and ability to embrace life after your studies – all while making lifelong friends.
At UiA, we want our programmes to be closely linked with the world of work. No matter what you study, you'll learn about important topics like sustainability, artificial intelligence and technologies shaping the future.
You will learn how to express what you've learned at university, and almost all of our graduates have gone on to quickly find jobs.
