The national survey is conducted annually among second-year bachelor's and final-year master's students. The results are crucial for UiA's efforts to improve the quality of its study programmes.
4 out of 5 stars
Regarding overall satisfaction, considering all aspects, students rate UiA four out of five possible points. This places UiA in joint second among universities, alongside the University of Oslo (UiO), the University of Bergen (UiB) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), narrowly behind Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU):
- NMBU – 4.1
- UiA, UiO, NTNU, UiT, NORD, UiB – 4.0
- USN – 3.9
- UiS and INN – 3.8
- OsloMet – 3.7
"The figures show that universities in Norway consistently deliver at a high level, and UiA is performing well," says Vice-Rector for Education Hilde Inntjore.
"It is important to hear from the students. They are the best indicators of whether we are evolving in the right direction."
Best in AI training
A closer inspection of the data reveals several areas where UiA is spearheading development.
When students at Norwegian universities are asked, no institution provides better training in the use of artificial intelligence tools than UiA.
"It’s good to see that we are fulfilling our strategic goal of leading in the use of new technology while continuing our efforts to improve in the coming years," says Inntjore.
UiA offers specific AI courses that all students can enrol in and has a board resolution on the integration of artificial intelligence across all our programmes of study.
"Students choosing UiA can rest assured that they will gain competence in using new tools effectively and responsibly," states Inntjore.

The best campuses
The student survey also includes several questions regarding the quality of physical learning environments at the various universities. Students are asked about facilities, equipment, library services and ICT services.
Overall, UiA is rated the best among universities in this area, according to the students. In the subcategories of facilities and ICT services, UiA also scores top marks among universities.
"We are pleased with the positive feedback, although not entirely surprised. We frequently welcome visits to our campuses in Grimstad and Kristiansand from students and staff from other institutions, both national and international. They often leave inspired and impressed," says Inntjore.
UiA's campuses follow a model often referred to as the "American campus model," with everything unified in one place.
"While our two campuses are excellent for both learning and working, we are constantly looking at how to develop them further. We are also exploring the establishment of a third, digital campus to provide excellent learning facilities for those studying wholly or partly online," says Inntjore.
Other areas where UiA excels compared to other universities include practical training and opportunities for collaboration with industry.
