“We see it every day ourselves, but it’s wonderful to have the students confirm that UiA is a great place to learn,” says Vice-Rector Hilde Inntjore at UiA.
The 2025 Student Barometer surveyed second and fifth-year students across Norway on how satisfied they are with their universities and colleges.
On Friday 13 February, the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) will publish the survey results.
“The survey is an important tool for understanding where students think we excel and where we can improve,” says Inntjore.
Compared with last year’s results, no areas or questions have shown a decline.
“Some scores remain the same as in 2024, but many are trending upwards,” Inntjore adds.

UiA ranks among Norway’s top universities
In overall student satisfaction, the University of Agder (UiA) ranks fourth among Norwegian universities, with an overall score of 4.1, just behind NMBU, NTNU, and UiO.
On several measures, UiA leads the way nationally:
- Campus experience (physical learning environment): 4 out of 5, including ICT services (4.1/5) and facilities for teaching and independent study (3.9/5)
- Training in AI tools: 2.6 out of 5
- Supervision during practical placements: 4 out of 5
UiA strives to maintain and develop its campuses as attractive, high-quality study environments, while also taking a leading role in embracing digital opportunities.
“This result demonstrates that excellent work is being done in both areas,” says Vice-Rector Hilde Inntjore.
However, while UiA leads the universities in AI training, the score of 2.6 shows there is still room for improvement.
“Students rightly have high expectations in this area, so we must continue to develop and expand our AI training,” Inntjore adds.
Students are particularly satisfied with the university library, which received the highest score of 4.2 out of 5.
On the podium in multiple areas
UiA ranks among the top three universities in several key categories:
- Teaching
- Academic and social learning environment
- Organisation of study programmes
- Practical placements
- Student involvement
The last category, student involvement, was optional for universities to include in the survey. UiA chose to ask its students, reflecting its strategic goal of being “the students’ university.”
Students gave UiA a score of 3.5 out of 5 in this area.
“This is a strong result and the third highest among universities that included this question. Still, we will continue working closely with our students to improve even further,” says Vice-Rector Hilde Inntjore.
