Gjærde is joining us from her role as dean at the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).
She is a chartered engineer and holds a PhD in electrical power engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Previously, Gjærde has served as the secretary general of the Norwegian Polytechnic Society and as a director at the Nordic Council of Ministers. She has also worked with companies such as Ørsted/DONG and Danish Energy, and as a researcher at SINTEF.
"I look forward to the task and to getting to know what seems to be a strong and dynamic academic environment, with dedicated staff in both academic and technical/administrative positions. Technology and science are of great importance for societal development and the green transition," says Gjærde.
"We are delighted to have Anne Cathrine join our team. We believe her background and experience are a perfect match for the faculty, and we look forward to welcoming her to the deans' group," says Rector Sunniva Whittaker.
Gjærde will begin her role in spring 2025 and will enter a four-year term from the date of commencement. The exact start date will be finalised later.
