Background and experience
As a PhD candidate, my research focuses on the role of culture in interpreting within intercultural communication and on how cultural contexts shape interpreting practices in multicultural societies. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Global Development and Planning.
Alongside my academic work, I have extensive professional experience in multicultural and international settings. I worked for nearly four years as a Higher Executive Officer in the Norwegian Police Immigration Department, where I processed cases related to family immigration, work permits, travel documents, and citizenship applications. I also spent approximately four years at the Norwegian Multicultural Center, contributing to the integration of newly arrived refugees and immigrants through teaching and guidance. Prior to this, I worked for approximately ten years with the United Nations, primarily as an interpreter and translator, while also supporting conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and human rights initiatives.
