Background and experience
With a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Public Health Nutrition, I have a strong understanding of health promotion for diverse population groups at the local, national, and global levels.
I have a diverse professional background with experience in research, organisational work, international humanitarian aid, communication, and dissemination. I have also worked with nutrition counseling and led courses in nutrition and health.
Within my field, I am particularly interested in:
- The interconnections between food, diet, and health, and how it is all linked to environmental sustainability, climate change, and nature.
- How food environments shape food choices and, consequently, health and nutrition outcomes.
- Food systems thinking: to zoom out and take a wide-angle perspective to try and understand how it is all interconnected.
- Food security at both local and global levels.
Research
As a PhD Research Fellow at the University of Agder (UiA), I am studying Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) within the NextGenDiet project. Together with young people, we explore the food system and identify opportunities and policy measures that can support healthier and more sustainable Nordic diets.
Prior to starting my PhD, I worked as a research assistant at Consumption Research Norway (SIFO) and researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH). My work focused on food environments, food systems, food security, and patterns of food consumption. I also worked as a Senior Advisor with Save the Children Norway, focusing on global nutrition, food security, and climate. In this role I coordinated two research and innovation projects within child participation and newborn nutrition, respectively.
