Research
Kristensen’s research is rooted in psychological perspectives on health behaviors, motivation, and performance. His work examines how social and psychological factors influence athletes’ tendencies to ignore pain and push their bodies beyond their limits, as well as the use of painkillers, performance-enhancing substances, and doping.
A core aspect of his research concerns the relationship between motivational climate, performance, and athletes’ mental health. He has a particular focus on how coaches and support staff can contribute to fostering healthy and sustainable performance environments.
