Are there really more queer Norwegian films than "Mannen som elsker Yngve"? And does it still hold up as the defining reference point for queer Norwegian cinema?

UiA researcher Johanne Christensen, who specialises in queer film and TV in Norway, sits down with Mary Ann Skretteberg Warenius for a lively and informal conversation about queer characters, love stories and representation in Norwegian film and TV.

Warenius is an adviser on gender and sexual diversity at UiA – Centre for Equality, and one of the driving forces behind the queer podcast Skeiv Dagsorden (Queer Agenda), where film and TV are regular topics. This evening, they bring that conversation to a live audience.

  • How has the landscape changed in recent years?
  • What makes a queer character truly well written?
  • And what is still missing from our screens?

Whether you are a film enthusiast, a binge-watcher, or simply curious about how gender and sexuality are portrayed in popular culture, this is an evening for you!

Details:

  • Date: Thursday 11 June
  • Time: 18:30 – 19:30

The event is free and is organised in collaboration between UiA – Centre for Gender and Equality and SKAKK – Queer Culture in Kristiansand, a sub-group of FRI Agder.
