Ansvarsområder
I work as an Assistant Professor (Universitetslektor) at the School of Business and Law at UiA. My research, including my PhD, is focused on Sustainable Consumer Behavior, often focused on household and customer behaviors linked to waste and recycling. I'm also connected to the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and to RMIT University in Australia.
My core research interests center around social influence and how to best achieve sustainable change, including research on interventions and field experiments to foster more environmentally friendly consumption decisions and pro-social behaviors. In this context, I work a lot with novel digital technologies and IoT systems to develop transformative services aimed at increasing well-being for humans and the planet. I believe in close collaboration with practice partners and the civil society to conduct transdisciplinary research that creates both academic insights and practical value.
Besides my academic work, I have also co-founded the German Start-Up 'plietsch', which works with full-range supermarkets to make sustainable grocery shopping accessible, simple and affordable for a broad customer group: plietsch offers package-free, organic, regional products integrated into 'regular' supermarkets. The goal is to enable 'regular' customers to make sustainable purchase decisions as part of their everyday consumption habits, support local sustainable agriculture and value creation, and prevent waste in the first place. We have received several awards for our work with plietsch, including the "Regional-Star"-Award from Berlin International Green Week and the trade journal LebensmittelPraxis as an "outstanding sustainable regional concept in the food industry".
My background is interdisciplinary: I have a PhD from UiA with a focus on sustainable consumption behavior, hold a MA degree in Leadership & Organization from Malmö University in Sweden and a BSc degree in Environmental and Sustainability Studies from Leuphana University in Germany, with additional coursework linked to waste treatment technologies from Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH).
I conduct research at the intersection of sustainability sciences, psychology and behavioral economics and am always happy to be contacted by like-minded people (in- and outside of academia!) - so please reach out!
