Silt soil

Silt soil is a finely grained soil type. It is more coarse than clay soil, but less coarse than sand soil (0,002-0,06 mm). Silt soil retains both water and nutrients well but is subjected to erosion.

The sausage test: Silt soil is soft and fine as flour. It can be packed together tightly. With a little bit of water it can be rolled to a medium length sausage.
