Kimmo Alajoutsijärvi er professor ved Institutt for arbeidsliv og innovasjon ved Handelshøyskolen ved Universitetet i Agder. Han har en ph.d. fra Universitetet i Jyväskylä (Finland).

Alajoutsijärvi har en lidenskap for forskning, doktorgradsstudier og veiledning. Han har alltid vært interessert i konseptuelle innovasjoner og oppdagelsesforskning. Forskningsinteressen kan grupperes i fire domener innen næringslivsstudier:

•Industrielle forretningsforbindelser og -nettverk

•Strategier i prosjektbaserte næringer

•Forretningssykluser, bobler, booms og busts

•Et viktig sidespor: Forskning på handelshøyskoler og høyere utdanning

 

Alajoutsijärvi har publisert sitt arbeid i tidsskrifter som Academy of Management Learning and Education, International Business Review, Information & Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business to Business Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Management Inquiry og International Journal of Project Management.

Alajoutsijärvi har hatt professorater i flere land, f.eks. Finland, Storbritannia og UAE. Han er også den tidligere dekan ved Oulu handelshøyskole i Finland og leder av den finske nasjonale ph.d.-utdanningen i markedsføring.

I tillegg til sitt akademiske arbeid, har Alajoutsijärvi vært konsulent for store og mellomstore industribedrifter, samt styreleder eller styremedlem i en rekke selskaper.
