Internal funding for project development

Writing project proposals for external funding is a time- and resource-consuming process. Therefore it is possible to get financial support for the phase of writing a project proposal.

There are two categories for this kind of preparatory support for education projects: PUS (project development support, prosjektutviklingsstøtte) og PES (project establishment support, prosjektetableringstøtte). PES and PUS both cover costs such as work hours, travels, meetings, network building. Read more below about which calls for projects enable you to apply for PUS from UiA and PES from HK-dir, and what criteria there are for getting the support.

In addition to support for writing a project proposal to obtain external funding, UiA also has its own programme for development of quality in education (Program for utdanningskvalitet, PRUK). PRUK is an initiative by the university board coordinated by UiA PULS, and supports smaller internal development projects (project budgets between 0,2-0,5M NOK). PRUK projects can also function as a basis for future, larger project proposal for external funding.

More about project development support

Project development support (prosjektutviklingsstøtte, PUS) is UiA’s own investment that compensates internal and external costs derived from preparing a grant proposal - for instance, hours, travel costs, meetings and networking relevant to the project.

PUS for education projects is offered mainly for grant proposals for calls administered by HK-dir, but calls for projects administered by other organizations and directorates may also be considered. There are two categories of PUS: smaller projects (total project budget between 1-15M NOK) can receive up to 20 000 NOK, while large projects with a total budget above 15M can receive up to 35 000 NOK. For projects that have a budget under 1 million, and for other types of external funding (for example tenders) PUS is not available.

PUS is applied with the same form that can be used for obtaining approval of project proposals. Projects that get approved according to the timeline and process indicated in UiAs routines for education projects will receive the support, and it’s paid in total after the successful submission of the proposal.

More about project establishment support

Project establishment support (prosjektetableringsstøtte PES) for education projects is applied from HK-dir. PES aims to support and stimulate Norwegian organisations to apply for projects from Erasmus+ programme’s centralized actions. More information about how much you can apply for, when, and what is covered, is available on HK-dir's web pages (in Norwegian).
