Using Zoom for data collection

If it is not possible to conduct in-person interviews, it is possible to use Zoom to conduct the interviews under the following conditions:

  • The meeting link must not be shared openly.
  • The meeting must be password protected.
  • A lobby/waiting room should be used to admit the correct people into the meeting.
  • Follow this guide to ensure correct settings (link coming soon).
  • Security/updates of the PC and software must comply with current IT regulation guidelines.
  • Familiarize yourself with the classification and secure storage of data, and what are suitable storage options for the data you wish to collect.
  • For projects collecting sensitive data, TSD and Nettskjema should be used, or a PC without internet connection, in accordance with the Guidelines for Processing Personal Data in Research.
  • Low-risk projects may commence and record on Zoom after approval from Sikt. For projects involving vulnerable groups and/or sensitive information, contact the Divison of Research and Innovation to ensure proper handling of research data.
