Mobile phone
Here you will find information on how to order, report damage, and the terms and conditions for your mobile phone through UiA.
Order and acquisition
- You must have a permanent position with at least 21% working hours, or you must be temporarily employed in a minimum 50% position for a period of at least 6 months.
- If you already have a UiA phone, it must be older than 36 months before you can order a new one. Check UiA's self-service portal.
UiA covers up to NOK 12,000 including VAT. This amount also includes a screen protector and case. If you want a more expensive phone/accessories, you will need to pay the difference when you place your order. The difference is non-refundable, but the phone can be bought out according to the state's depreciation rules.
Mobile phone agreement
After the agreement has been signed and approved, it can take up to 4 hours after approval before you are able to order a mobile phone.
See the Purchasing guide (Velory)
KFU: If you wish to purchase a more expensive phone/accessories using KFU, the entire phone cost must be paid from the KFU account. More information about the KFU account can be found here.
Receive
- The mobile phone will be sent either to your home address or to UiA, and you can check the status of your order in the ordering portal.
- If you have any other questions, you can contact our supplier at: fellesavtale@dustin.no
- Remember to include the order number in the email. You can find the number in the ordering portal.
- Once you have received the phone, you must log into the ordering portal and register that it has been received.
Loan, right of withdrawal, and security
- If you need a loan phone while waiting for your mobile, you can contact UiA Help and receive a loan phone.
- There is no right of withdrawal for mobile phone purchases.
Reimbursement and subscription
- All employees will receive an annual salary payment of NOK 1,200 as a contribution towards their mobile phone subscription. This reimbursement is also available if you use a personal mobile phone, but it must also be applied for. Select "support for mobile subscription" here: Agreement for mobile phone for employees at UiA
- You are free to choose which mobile subscription you wish to use. UiA currently has a very favourable corporate agreement with Telia. You can find updated information here.
Setup
As an employee, you can connect to eduroam when on campus. Log in with your regular UiA username, followed by @uia.no, and your UiA password.

Security
The mobile device is managed by UiA to protect work-related data. UiA does not monitor devices or restrict them for personal use.
This means that mobile devices provided by UiA are managed through MDM (Mobile Device Management) to protect work-related data on your device and grant access to work-related apps upon setup. The system will not have access to personal information, personal files, nor will it log or track device activities.
UiA's IT department manages the MDM systems, and two solutions have been chosen to meet security requirements and functionality for different devices. Jamf is chosen for iOS (iPhone) devices, and Intune is used for Android devices (Samsung). Both of these meet UiA's privacy and security policies, which you can read more about through the provided links.
UiA's privacy policy consists of three measures:
- Mandatory PIN code on all devices
- Mandatory security updates
- The ability to lock and erase the device in case of theft (only user-initiated).
UiA generally encourages good online practices and follows the advice of the National Security Authority (NSM) regarding access to personal files or usage patterns. However, there will be restrictions on which apps are allowed to be installed on the organisation's internal digital infrastructure. As of now, the following applications are not permitted:
- TikTok
- Telegram
When the employment relationship ends, the device will be removed from all UiA systems.
Damaged mobile phone
- In the case of a damaged or broken mobile phone, contact lcm@uia.no for an assessment to determine if the phone should be sent for repair.
- If the phone is recommended for repair by LCM:
- Report the damage
- The phone must be reset (if possible) before being sent for repair.
- The invoice field should be filled out with code 1170 (IT).
Loan phone
- If you need a loan phone while waiting for your phone to be repaired or replaced, contact UiA Help to receive a loan device.
Buyout
Employees who leave UiA have the opportunity to buy out their current UiA phone. This also applies to employees who renew their UiA phone after a minimum of three years.
The following buyout prices (incl. VAT) apply as of 01.08.2023:
1–12 months: 80% of the purchase price (max NOK 9,600)
13–24 months: 50% of the purchase price (max NOK 6,000)
25–36 months: 30% of the purchase price (max NOK 3,600)
37–48 months: 15% of the purchase price (max NOK 1,800)
49–60 months: 7.5% of the purchase price (max NOK 900)
Over 60 months: minimum NOK 500
The buyout price is calculated so that the employee does not have to pay tax on the buyout. The prices are based on the amount UiA originally paid for the phone and may be adjusted if this amount changes. The buyout agreement is made with UiA Help.
If you do not wish to buy out the phone when you leave UiA or when you exchange your UiA phone, you must return the phone to UiA Help.
For more information on the policy for purchasing used mobile phones or IT equipment, please see here.
If you only wish to have a mobile phone for work
If you only wish to have a mobile phone for work, contact the IT manager at your unit. You will then be assigned a standard phone with a subscription owned by UiA. This phone must remain at the workplace but can be used for work-related travel.
Tax rules are strict. A phone that is available for use outside of the workplace triggers tax liability for the employee.
The phone cannot be used for content or telephone services. Examples of this include services ordered and paid for via SMS (starting with a 4- or 5-digit number) or utility and entertainment services (starting with the numbers 820 or 829).
