IT equipment for employees at UiA
Employees in a 21% position or more are provided with a standard laptop running Windows, covered by the IT department.
Mac: A standard Mac may be considered and potentially approved by the IT department if there is a specific and documented need in each individual case.
If you need a more powerful computer for your work at UiA, this must be assessed by the unit leader or IT purchaser. The faculty or department must cover costs beyond the standard package.
The KFU account can be used to cover costs for computers exceeding the standard. The computer will still be treated as an employee device.
If you retire or leave UiA, you must return all IT equipment to the respective unit or potentially purchase it.
Report needs
IT equipment, phones, and software
- As an employee, you must report your needs to the purchasing officer for your unit.
- You cannot order IT equipment yourself.
For IT purchasers:
The order form is sent to the IT department, which handles the order.
Purchase of used IT equipment
If your IT equipment is being replaced or you are leaving UiA, it may be possible to purchase the equipment you have used at work.
Employees are not entitled to purchase equipment, and the IT manager at the faculty and/or IT department will assess whether you can buy the equipment.
You may request to purchase your PC or Mac when:
- You retire.
- You leave UiA, and your computer is 3 years old or older.
- The IT department replaces it.
You may also request to purchase mobile phones and tablets when:
- The mobile phone or tablet is 3 years old or older.
- You retire.
- You leave UiA.
If you are retiring or leaving and wish to purchase equipment, this must be done before your employment ends.
Equipment purchased will be invoiced according to current depreciation rules.
Computers must be reinstalled before being transferred for private use. The IT department does not take responsibility for loss of private data on the computer during reinstallation. Access to OneDrive will be removed when employees leave UiA, and all data stored there will be deleted.
Equipment purchased via KFU accounts cannot be bought out as long as you continue your employment at UiA.
How to proceed
Send an email to lcm@uia.no, specifying what you wish to purchase. Also include the UiA number of the device(s), which can be found on the theft protection tag/sticker.
Once the IT department has conducted a final assessment for the purchase, they will determine the price, issue an invoice, remove the equipment from the inventory database, and reinstall the setup.
