Admission to single courses

Principles for single course admissions

  • In closed programmes, not all mandatory courses in the first year of study shall be offered as single courses.
  • Courses should only be offered as single courses if there are at least 5 available places on the course.
  • Courses containing practical training shall not be offered as single courses.
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s theses shall not be offered as single courses.
  • Each applicant may apply for admission to a maximum of 4 single courses per semester.
  • Admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Places are not reserved for applicants who are unqualified at the time of application.
  • Conditional admissions will not be granted for single courses.

Course registration

Faculties/Teacher Education Unit must register the courses they wish to offer as single courses in FS by 21 June or 1 November. The deadlines are final, and no additional courses can be added after these dates.

To offer a course as an individual course, it must be registered in FS with the text "Yes, if available" in the "Offered as single course" field.

1 August / 1 December: The list of available single courses is published, and applications can be submitted.

20 August / 10 January: Admissions for single courses close.

Reporting capacity limits

If a course has a limited number of places, this must be reported on the single course list by the 21 June / 1 November deadline. Courses with fewer than 5 available places shall not be offered in single course admissions. If no specific number of available places is reported, offers will be extended to all qualified applicants.

Verifying admission requirements

The admission requirements for a single course must be identical to the requirements of the study programme to which the course belongs. If a course is part of multiple programmes with different requirements, the lowest-level admission requirement applies.

Faculties are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of information (admission requirements and recommended prerequisites) for the course in FS. Admission requirements are absolute, and recommended prerequisites are advisory.
