Why not join a choir? If you're new to Norway, choir singing is also a wonderful way to build friendships and practise Norwegian. No fluency required. Here are two possibilities:
UiA Choir
Whether you're a seasoned singer or simply enjoy singing with others, the UiA Choir welcomes students and staff from all parts of the university.
We rehearse on Tuesdays from 2:15 to 4:00 p.m. in Sal 1, K-building, Campus Kristiansand. Each semester, we perform a major concert and collaborate with music students from the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Come and sing with us! Contact conductor Anne Haugland Balsnes or just drop in for the first rehearsal on Tuesday, 18 August.
Kristiansand Opera Choir
The Kristiansand Opera Choir is affiliated with the University of Agder (UiA) and serves as a rehearsal choir for conducting students. Rehearsals take place at UiA every Monday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The choir has an international profile, with members from several countries, and performs a varied repertoire in collaboration with a wide range of artistic partners. The choir often performs with the symphony orchestra in Kilden Performing Arts Centre in Kristiansand.
If you are interested in joining, please contact the conductor and Professor of Music at UiA, Anne Haugland Balsnes.
