Senior at UiA

UiA is an inclusive workplace (IA) that aims to motivate employees to remain in the workforce for a long time.

Pension seminar

As a senior, you are offered a pension course organised by the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK). The course lasts 5 hours and provides insight into the options available through the AFP and pension schemes. The courses are held every other year in Grimstad and Kristiansand.

SPK also offers individual advisory sessions for employees. Registration for these sessions is done as part of the seminar registration. Employees who wish to have individual guidance with SPK must pay for this themselves and consent to having the cost deducted from their salary.

Senior meeting

As a UiA employee, when you reach the age of 60, 62, and 65, you will have a senior meeting with your manager. This meeting focuses on your status and future development. The discussions aim to identify your wishes and ambitions, future prospects, and development needs, and serve as a basis for mutual planning of your future work situation.

One extra week of vacation

The year you turn 60, you are entitled to one additional week of vacation. These days can be taken together, but not necessarily consecutively with the rest of your holiday.

Extra days off from the age of 62 (senior days)

Information on the sixth week of vacation and extra days off:
From the year you turn 62, you are entitled to up to 8 extra days off per year. These days are given to motivate older employees to stay in work longer and are allocated proportionally based on your full-time equivalent (FTE) and the number of working days per week. The days off can be taken as full days or as reduced working hours by agreement with your employer.

For employees in academic positions, the working hours are automatically adjusted in the work plan, reducing the annual working hours.

Senior days are not considered holiday. Therefore, unused senior days cannot be carried over or paid out as salary, according to the Main Collective Agreement, section 5.6 (lovdata.no).

Senior days are registered as absence under the absence type "Tj.fri senior" in DFØ.

Working after the age of 67

You may work after the age of 67 until you reach 70 without drawing pension from the National Insurance Scheme. You can also work during this period while receiving a pension.

UiA aims to accommodate older employees to help them remain active in the workforce for longer.
