The basis for admission to all master's programmes is a bachelor's degree (the equivalent of 180 ECTS) from a recognised institution. You must have completed your degree in order to be eligible for admission. In addition, you must meet the requirement of a specific academic basis.

Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things

The admission requirement is a completed and passed three-year bachelor’s degree in engineering within the areas Computer Science, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or Mechatronics, in line with the National Curriculum Regulations for Engineering Education in Norway. Applicants with background from renewable energy, must have passed courses in basic object-oriented programming and control engineering. Applicants with background in Mechatronics must have passed courses in basic object-oriented programming and embedded computer systems.
Furthermore, the following requirements are set, which in part go beyond the minimum requirements in the national curriculum regulations:
- At least 25 credits in relevant mathematics
- At least 5 credits in statistics
- At least 7.5 credits in physics
The weighted average grade of C or better is required.
Admission takes place in accordance with regulations on admission to studies and courses at the University of Agder.

Business Administration, specialisation in Finance

- At least 5 credits in statistics
- At least 7.5 credits in physics

Classical Music Performance
The general admission requirement is a bachelor's degree or equivalent education of at least three years (180 credits). The admission criteria must include specialization unit of at least 80 credits in performing music or equivalent. At least 20 credits in the specialization unit must be level 2. Ranking of applicants takes place on the basis of an entrance exam with the following parts:
- Audition with self-selected program. In the audition, a score from 10 to 20 is given for passing the test. Applicants who get less than 10 points have not passed the audition. The audition counts for 50% of the total score.
- Interview. At the interview, a score is given from 10 to 20. The interview counts for 50% of the total score. The audition must be passed in order to be admitted to an interview.
Otherwise, admission takes place in accordance with the Regulations on admission to studies and courses at the University of Agder.
Coastal Ecology
Admission requirements are completed bachelor's degree or equivalent where either an integrated study of at least two years duration in biology/ecology or specialization course of at least 80 credits in biology/ecology is included.
A weighted average rating of C or better is required.
Admission takes place in accordance with Regulations on admission to studies and courses at the University of Agder.
Cybersecurity Engineering
Please note! This study programme is open for applicants from the EU/EEA and applicants with a renewable or permanent residence permit to Norway. It is not open for applicants outside EU/EEA.
Admission requirements include the completion of a three-year bachelor's degree in engineering, based on the national curriculum, in the fields of data, electronics, or mechatronics. Applicants with mechatronics as the basis for admission must demonstrate proficiency in object-oriented programming.
Additionally, the following requirements, which partially exceed the minimum requirements in the curriculum, apply:
- At least 25 ECTS credits in relevant mathematics
- At least 5 ECTS credits in statistics
- At least 7.5 ECTS credits in physics
A weighted average grade of C or better is required. Admission is also subject to the Regulations on admission to studies and courses at the University of Agder.
The program is conducted in English and is open to applicants from the EU/EEA. Admission is otherwise in accordance with the regulations for admission to studies and courses at the University of Agder.

Cybersecurity Management
Students admitted to the programme must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or other equivalent degree of at least 180 ECTS. In addition to the bachelor’s degree, the following admission requirements will be applied:
- Either: a specialization unit of at least 80 credits in Information Systems (IS), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Informatics, Business Administration or Management and Organisation.
Applicants with a specialisation in Business Administration or Management and Organisation, will need a minimum of 30 credits within IS/ICT. - Or: an integrated study of at least 2 years duration within the same fields of study and with the same requirements as in point 1.
- The weighted average grade of C or better is required.

The programme is conducted in English and is open to international applicants.
English
The general admission requirement is a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent education of a minimum of three years duration (180 ECTS credits).
According to the admission criteria, the major must include a minimum of 80 ECST credits in English. At least 20 credits must be in linguistic courses, and at least 20 credits must be in literature. At least 20 credits must be on the supplementary level (Level 2).
Students must have obtained a weighted average grade of C or better for their English major.
Ranking will be based on the average grade in the major.
Furthermore, admission is granted in accordance with the Regulations concerning admission to study programmes and courses at the University of Agder.
Global Development, Crisis and Change
The general requirement is completed bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years’ duration (180 ECTS). Other requirements:
Either: a major subject of at least 80 ECTS within the social sciences.
Or: an integrated programme of at least two years duration within the social sciences.
Examples of relevant fields of study: Development Studies, Planning, Geography, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Politics and Business Administration.
- Social science methods, at least 7,5 ECTS.
A weighted, average grade of C or better is required.

Management and Business Development
General admission requirement is completed bachelor’s degree or equivalent education with a scope of minimum three years’ duration (180 ECTS credits).
Academic basis:
- Either: a major subject within business, administration, marketing, management, relevant social sciences or equivalent of minimum 80 ECTS credits, of which a minimum of 20 credits are at level 2 / additional level.
- Or: an integrated programme of at least two years duration within business administration, marketing, management, relevant social sciences or equivalent.
A minimum of 7.5 ECTS credits in social science methodology must be included in the academic basis. A weighted average grade of C or better is required.
Admission takes place in accordance with Regulations concerning admission to programmes and courses at the University of Agder, § 24.
Mathematics
General admission requirements are a bachelor's degree or equivalent education of at least three years (180 credits), and with a minimum of 80 credits specialization in mathematical subjects or equivalent. At least 20 credits in the specialization must be at level 2. Admission requirements state that students must have a mark of C or better in the total bachelor degree before entering the programmme.
Mechatronics

The admission requirement is a completed and passed three-year bachelor's degree in engineering, within the areas mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electronics and electrical engineering or renewable energy, in line with the National Curriculum Regulations for Engineering Education in Norway. - At least 25 credits in relevant mathematics
- At least 5 credits in statistics

The admission requirements are:
- A 3 year bachelor’s degree in Academic esports
or
- A 3 year bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Technology and Design, or similar.
or
- A 3 year bachelor’s degree in engineering. The applicant must have passed courses in basic object-oriented programming and 3D-modelling or technical drawing.
or
- A 4-5 year teachers education and 60 credits of multimedia courses, basic object-oriented programming and 3D-modelling.
A weighted average grade of C or better is required.
Admission takes place in accordance with Regulations on admission to studies and courses at the University of Agder.
Popular Music
The general admission requirement is a bachelor's degree or equivalent education of at least three years' duration (180 credits) for all specialisations in the master's programme. Applicants who lack up to 15 credits outside the specialisation unit may be conditionally admitted. Admission is subject to the Regulations on admission to studies and courses at the University of Agder.
Performing Specialisations (Performing Music, World Music, and Songwriting)
The admission basis shall include a passed specialisation unit of at least 80 credits in performing music or equivalent.
Applicants submit an application with a proposed project description for the master's thesis according to guidelines set by the Faculty of Fine Arts. The master's thesis proposal must be approved by the university 5 weeks before the audition is held.
Applicants are ranked based on the audition, which consists of the following components:
- Audition: During the audition, a score from 10 to 20 is given for a passed test. Applicants who receive less than 10 points have not passed. The audition counts for 50% of the total score. The audition considers the applicant's artistic, technical, and academic levels in terms of performance and presentation.
- Interview: During the interview, a score from 10 to 20 is given. The interview counts for 50% of the total score. The audition must be passed to gain admission to the interview. The interview considers the applicant's ability to describe, reflect on, and communicate the background and motivation for the chosen artistic project, specialization and thesis proposal.
Electronic Music
The admission basis shall include one of the following criteria:
- Specialisation unit of at least 80 credits in performing or electronic music, a bachelor's degree in music technology, or equivalent.
- Other relevant bachelor's programmes may be approved as a basis for admission upon special consideration.

A weighted average grade of C or better is required, calculated based on the entire bachelor's degree.
Popular Music - Music Business and Management
The admission basis must include one of the following criteria:
- Specialisation unit of at least 80 credits in performing music, music pedagogy or musicology. At least 20 credits in the specialisation unit must be level 2.
- Relevant specialisation unit of at least 80 credits within the culture/music/culture studies. At least 20 credits in the specialisation unit must be level 2.
- Bachelor's degree in economics or equivalent
- Other relevant bachelor's programmes may, after special assessment, be approved as a basis for admission.
A weighted average grade of C or better is required, calculated based on the entire bachelor's degree.
