About the partner institution

Johannes Gutenberg - University of Mainz

The university was founded in 1477 and is one of the oldest universities in Germany. It consists of a large main campus in the city of Mainz and a smaller campus in the town of Germersheim (approximately one hour south of Mainz).

The university has approximately 30,000 students spread across ten faculties, one art school, and a music academy.

Mainz has a population of over 200,000 and is located on the Main river, which flows into the Rhine. The city center consists of a beautiful old town with half-timbered buildings.

UiA is part of a network of European universities, FORTHEM, where the University of Mainz is one of the partners. This means that students in most academic disciplines will have the opportunity for an exchange program there.
