  • demonstrate a rudimentary understanding of the connection between experiences in practical training and theory/research
  • reflect on their position as a role model for children
  • reflect on how the kindergarten can support and facilitate transitions in the kindergarten

Students will also be evaluated in relation to the general assessment criteria for practical training in the kindergarten teacher training programme.

Contents

The practical training period focuses on relationships, both child-child and child-adult, and students will practise self-leadership and leadership for children. During the first year of study, students will gain a basic understanding of pedagogical leadership in kindergartens and acquire rudimentary knowledge of the kindergarten as a learning organisation. Through observation and reflection, students will gain insight into the work of a kindergarten teacher. Students will also take an active part in day-to-day life in the kindergarten and participate in children's play and both formal and informal interactions and learning situations.

This practical training period builds on the following knowledge areas: Language, text and mathematics (STM).

More specific information about the content of the practical training can be found on the website.

Teaching and learning methods

During practical training, students are under the regular professional supervision of a practical training supervisor. Students shall observe, plan, carry out and reflect on practices in the kindergarten. This must be done both orally and in writing.

Practical training is mandatory and takes place in a kindergarten.

Scope: 12 days

Examinations

At the end of the practical training period, students will be given an individual written assessment with Pass/Fail. The assessment of each student is based on the learning outcome description for the practical training period in the first and second semesters. Students will present their assessment report to the practical training supervisor at the start of the subsequent practical training period.

A 100 per cent attendance record for practical training is required in order to pass the training.

Student evaluation

Practical training is evaluated digitally at the end of the training period, in line with the quality system.
