Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student:

  • Has experience in teaching or coaching others through practice.
  • Understands different coaching, motivation, management and training techniques.
  • Understands how skills and competencies gained from academic Esports can be applied to other areas of study, life and business, and how these skills can be passed on to others.
  • Can use programming when solving tasks related to Esports.

Contents

This course is a continuation of Esports 1, 2 and 3 and gives increasingly more insight into the gaming world and how to optimize the experience. Now we focus on the importance of understanding transferable skills in a wider context and how we can create learning scenarios using Esports in a controlled setting. Students will gain hands-on experience coaching or teaching others in Esports and helping develop transferable skills through practice.

The course also adds to the programming skills acquired in the previous semesters, with a group design project that marries the theoretical aspects of programming with a physical game design task.

Teaching and learning methods

The course will be divided into different modules, mostly with a practical approach. Tasks will often be practical in nature, and the course will also include training sessions and tutoring sessions in different games.

Expected workload for the average student is 200 hours.

Examination requirements

All modules must be approved. An overview of tasks will be presented in Canvas at the start of the semester.

Examinations

Individual written assignment. Graded assessment.

Student evaluation

The study program manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
