Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student should:

  • be able to perform a dynamic analysis of complex mechanical problems
  • understand the difference between kinematic determined and non-determined analysis.

Contents

Kinematic constraints, inverse kinematics and forward dynamics, analysis of systems with lower and higher order pairs, closed and open chain systems.

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, exercises, project and laboratory work. Estimated workload for the average student is 27 hours per credit.

Examination requirements

Mandatory project work. Information will be given in Canvas at the start of the course.

Examinations

Video recordings of the presentation and oral defense will be included as part of the assessment material in the portfolio. The individual components will not be given separate grades but will collectively form the basis for grading the entire portfolio. The portfolio will be given graded marks. Detailed information about the various components included in the portfolio will be provided on Canvas at the beginning of the semester.

In the event of a grade appeal, the entire portfolio, including video recordings of the presentation and oral defense, will be evaluated by a new assessment committee.

There will be no new/postponed exam for the portfolio.

Both the portfolio and the written exam must be passed.

Student evaluation

Course evaluation is carried out as a midterm evaluation in accordance with standard procedure in the quality assurance system, chapter 2.1.1., unless other information is given in the beginning of the semester.
