Contents
The project is chosen within the study's specialization areas and should be based on real issues from society and industry or research and development work. The engineering work should be placed in a holistic system perspective and evaluated in relation to aspects such as lifecycle, environmental, health, societal, and economic perspectives in the project.
Through the project, the student should gain experience with the practical-industrial application of theoretical knowledge and an insight into the needs and working methods of the industry. The project should help develop the students' ability to use scientific working methods. The work should include a survey of the knowledge frontier in the area, and this should be explained in the project report. The students' own work should be linked to the results of the survey. The course should also provide practical experience in project work and develop independence and collaboration skills.
Teaching and learning methods
Independent work in groups (3-4 students) on a project assignment, with facilitated supervision. Each project includes 5 hours of mandatory supervision. Students and supervisors share responsibility for following up on this.
Lectures are given on relevant social science topics such as sustainability, environment, ethics, and economy. The workload for an average student is estimated to be approximately 800 hours.
Examination requirements
- Documentation of participation in at least 5 mandatory supervision meetings.
- Approved research question.
- Approved progress plan.
Submission deadlines are given at the start of the semester.
Examinations
Student evaluation
Offered as a free-standing course
