Contents

Teaching practice abroad takes place during the sixth semester of the study programme. It consists of 20 days of teaching practice at a preschool in another country. During the third year of study, students develop pedagogical leadership skills, the ability to reflect on the Norwegian preschool as a pedagogical institution in relation to the pedagogical institution where the teaching practice abroad takes place, and demonstrate that pedagogical leadership includes professional ethical awareness.

Teaching and learning methods

During teaching practice, the student receives professional guidance from a teaching practice supervisor at the pedagogical institution abroad. The student observes, plans, carries out and reflects on the routines in the preschool. This is done both verbally and in writing. Teaching practice takes place at a preschool and is mandatory.

Duration: 20 days

Examination requirements

To pass teaching practice, 100% attendance during the teaching practice period is required.

Examinations

At the end of the teaching practice period, the student receives an individual written evaluation and is assessed as Pass/Fail. The student’s evaluation is based on the learning outcome descriptions and evaluation aspects for the teaching practice period. A separate document has been prepared with a list of evaluation aspects for the teaching practice period. This document can be found at https://www.uia.no/om-uia/fakultet/lererutdanningene/praksis-lu/praksis-blu/
