Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student should

  • know matrix algebra
  • be able to apply matrix methods to solve systems of linear equations
  • be able to apply matrix methods to for instance polynomial regression and linear transformations
  • be able to explain and make use of eigenvalues and eigenvectors
  • be able to calculate and make use of determinants
  • know and be able to make use of the Laplace transformation
  • understand and be able to solve differential equations
  • be able to calculate and make use of partial derivatives

Linear algebra

  • Gauss-Jordan elimination and matrix algebra
  • Applications, including polynomial regression
  • Determinants and Cramer’s Rule
  • Linear transformations
  • Eigen-values and -vectors

Difference and differential equations

  • Higher order linear difference and differential equations
  • The Laplace transform
  • Applications

Multivariate calculus

  • Partial derivatives

Examinations

Portfolio consisting of digital tests. Graded assessment. More information about the portfolio will be given in Canvas. There will not be arranged a postponed exam for the portfolio.
